WoodsKnife new hunting puukko combo

This is just a little preview what's coming up from WoodsKnife at the end of the year. I have never seen a knife combo like this one before! It has a 3 3/4" skinner and 3 1/8" gutting puukko knife in a same handmade case. A perfect combination for a hunting trip! I have also used the gutting knife for whittling and it works great for that purpose as well, so it would make a great camping or bushcrafting knife combo also.

Again, I can't emphasize enough how spectacular sheath maker Harri Merimaa is! This one is a piece of art like all WoodsKnife sheaths! True Finnish puukko making craftsmanship at its best! I will get a sample knife before Christmas and will post better pictures then. These knives will be available for purchase late January 2009.

Curly Birch and Stainless steel unique, handmade pocket knife from Arctic Circle

Curly Birch and Stainless steel unique, handmade pocket knife from Arctic Circle. Case and handle look the same!

Total length: 5 1/2"
Blade length: 2"

Lauri-Tuotteet is well know of its original and high quality Lapland crafts. Puukko making has always been a big part of Arctic craftsmanship and this spectacular knife is a great sample of it! All wooden puukkos are not just pretty to look, but also very practical in Northern climate. This knife fits nice in your pocket and is a great everyday cutting tool.

These old Lapland style knives are hard to find!

Old Antti Mäenpänen Kauhava Puukko

This knife is made by Antti Mäenpänen (1873 - 1950). He was a member of Rämakkö family and made knives since he was 19 years old. Antti lived in the US for a few years when he has younger, but this knife is his later ones. I think around 1920. He was best known of his "korupuukko", decorated puukko knives. Since he was a Rämakkö I'm pretty sure he made the sheath himself. He also developed machines for knife making like engraver for the ferrules.

Harri Merimaa's new high carbon folder knife!

Harri Merimaa with WoodsKnife is creating an exceptional folding knife! This knife has forged black sided high carbon steel blade, HRC 59! It has a locking mechanism and curly birch on the handle. This knife will be available with or without Harri’s handmade leather belt case. All knives will come in wooden gift box with a belt clip. As far as I know no-one else is making anything like this!

I only have pictures of the prototype at the moment but will publish more pictures later in the spring when I get one of these in my hand! Most likely it’ll be late April, early May.

Harri is making a small numbered series of these at first and if you are interested in purchasing one, contact me. The number series are coming in a gift box without the sheath.
